Dump Truck Operator – Premium Nickel Resources Botswana

Responsible for operating mine dump trucks to transport materials from one location to another. The responsibility will also include inspecting material to ensure it has been loaded correctly, operating the truck according to standard and keeping the truck clean and in good working order.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform visual Inspections of the Dump Truck before, and during operation according to departmental procedures to minimise breakdowns and operational losses by the timeous reporting of defects / abnormalities to Supervisor.
• Use standard checklist and complete it taking note of any defects
• Inspect material to ensure it has been loaded correctly.
• Verifying the types of materials being transported and ensuring that they do not exceed weight restrictions.
• Manoeuvre trucks into loading or unloading positions.
• Assist relevant department with scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs on the Dump Truck.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• keep the truck clean and in good working order.
• Follow all procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Perform basic emergency road side repairs, if required.

Qualifications:

• Underground ADT driver’s license
• “O Level, Cambridge
• Heavy Duty Driving License is an added advantage
• Minimum of 3-5 year’s practical experience of operating a dump truck in an underground mining environment.
• Sound knowledge of underground mining practices and operations.
• Good Communication and Interpersonal skills
• Experience with off-road dump trucks
• Have a good understanding of heavy-duty machinery
• Ability to demonstrate PNR values and core competencies
