Salary Scale: E1 (P512 148-P532 860) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Benefits:

Optional contributory medical aid scheme with the Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS) (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%). Government will also contribute 50% of the medical aid cover for individuals who are already members of a different Medical Aid Scheme other than the BPOMAS. A contract of 24 to 36 months, with a gratuity of 30% payable upon expiry of contract.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication, Media Studies, Social Sciences or related field.

Experience:

Minimum of sixteen (16) years’experience in the Media or Mass Communication, two (2) years of which should have been at (E2) level in the public sector or its equivalent role in the parastatals or private sectors.

Main purpose of the Job:

To provide strategic leadership that drives innovation, enhances performance, and ensures the long-term success of the television and radio division in a competitive landscape.

Key performance Areas:

  1. Develops and oversees the implementation of government communication strategy and plans to deliver the information and broadcasting mandate of the department.
  2. Develops sound operational guidelines, in line with national, regional and international regulations and ensures that they are maintained.
  3. Develops strategies to deepen audience engagements at national and community level and increase viewership or listenership by utilizing emerging digital media trends and technologies.
  4. Increase local content creation and programming across all TV genres, ensuring high-quality and relevant programmes.
  5. Drives digital transformation initiative to enhance the audience experience, integrating traditional and digital platforms effectively.
  6. Monitors adherence to regulatory requirements, industry and professional media standards.
  7. Establishes partnership and collaborates with local and international media organizations, advertiser, and community stakeholders.
  8. Coordinates the finance and budgetary systems for the department by liaising with heads of section to ensures resources are effectively and efficiently utilized.
  9. Fosters continual improvement of staff engagement by providing on-the job training, coaching and mentoring as needed, ensuring that all the staff meet or exceed the requirement of their performance contracts.
  10. Undertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.
