This position is responsible for overseeing the quality and standards of construction and maintenance work on behalf of the Company.

This position is responsible for overseeing the quality and standards of construction and maintenance work on behalf of the Company by ensuring that the contractor’s work complies with the specifications, drawings, and standards outlined in the construction contract.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Quality Control
    • Ensuring that the materials, workmanship, and finished work meet the required specifications and standards as outlined in the project documentation.
    • Carrying out inspections and tests to verify that work is in line with approved plans, standards, and regulations.
  • Site Inspections
    • Conducting regular site inspections to monitor progress and identify any potential issues early in the project.
    • Documenting and reporting on construction progress, highlighting any concerns or deviations from the planned work.
    • Checking that materials used are as specified in contracts, are stored properly, and are of the required quality.
  • Ensuring Compliance
    • Ensuring that all construction works comply with building regulations, codes of practice, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements.
    • Liaising with contractors to ensure that work is carried out according to the contract documents, legal obligations, and any amendments agreed upon during the project.
  • Coordination and Communication
    • Acting as the intermediary between the contractor, architects, engineers, and the client, ensuring that all parties are kept informed about progress, quality issues, and potential delays.
    • Attending regular site meetings and reporting back on project status, ensuring that communication channels remain open.
  • Problem-Solving
    • Identifying problems in design, construction techniques, or materials and proposing solutions that will meet the client’s objectives without compromising quality or deadlines.
    • Working with contractors to resolve any construction or contractual disputes that may arise on-site.
  • Cost Control
    • Assisting in ensuring that the project remains within budget by monitoring resources, avoiding wastage, and reporting potential cost overruns.
    • Verifying that any changes to the work (variations) are properly authorized and costed.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping
    • Keeping detailed site records, including diaries, progress reports, and minutes from meetings.
    • Maintaining an accurate log of any issues, defects, and corrective actions required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil, Building Construction or Equivalent.
  • Certificate in Project Management added advantage.
  • ERB registration is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of ten (10 ) years in construction inspection Industry.
  • General working experience at least 5 (Five) years within the mining Industry.
  • Ability to maintain detailed site documentations eg Inspection reports, on-conformance reports, meeting minutes.

Technical/Behavioural Competencies:

  • Capacity to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance.
  • Good Knowledge of Construction safety standards, regulations & health & safety protocols.

  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
