Job Description

Botswana Ash (Pty) Ltd is a Soda Ash and Salt producing Company situated at Sua Pan in Botswana, approximately 180 km by tarred road northwest of Francistown. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of CLASS TEACHER PRIMARY.

Job Summary:
The major role of the incumbent will be to provide quality teaching and learning in the lower primary and support the personal development and academic success of students. In addition to meeting the academic expectations, the successful candidate will be expected to participate actively in the life of the school, including the extra-curricular programme, and offer both sporting and cultural activities.

Key Responsibilities:
– Promoting and living the Guiding Statements of Flamingo International School.
– Preparing teaching and learning opportunities and experiences that reflect best teaching practice and allows for differentiation.
– Teach phonics and reading with understanding.
– Leading a safe, secure classroom where students are cared for and nurtured.
– Designing teaching that allows students to engage meaningfully and creatively in their own learning.
– Assessing accurately and report authentically on students’ personal development and personal progress.
– Building positive and supportive relationships with parents.
– Participating fully in all aspects of school life that ensure whole school improvement.

Requirements:
– A Diploma/Degree in education or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of teaching Standard 0-3 Classes.
– A minimum of 5 years of experience of teaching in an independent school environment will be an added advantage.
– The ability to deliver the curriculum in English, is essential.
– The ideal candidate must have a thorough pedagogical knowledge of teaching and learning in the lower primary years.
– An understanding and implementation of phonics, and the teaching of reading and handwriting.
– The candidate must demonstrate generosity of spirit, the ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and have a philosophy of education that underpins a career of successful teaching practice.
– Ability to coach swimming, netball, cricket, hockey.
