The company, a subsidiary of a Chinese company based in Palapye specializes in the manufacturing of steel pipes for the transmission of oil, gas, steam and water from 406mm to 2540mm in diameter. The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Botswana citizens for the following position:
CHINESE TRANSLATOR (1)
⦁ The translator will be responsible for the accurate translation of documents and emails, as well as attending meetings in which live translations are needed.
⦁ Reading material and researching industry-specific terminology
⦁ Converting text and audio recordings in one language to one or more others
⦁ Ensuring translated texts convey original meaning and tone
⦁ To be successful in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in the Chinese language including your native language.
⦁ Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
⦁ Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
⦁ Familiarity with translation software
⦁ Time-management skills
⦁ Liaise with colleagues to ensure that translations are true to the original meaning
Experience and Qualification
⦁ Diploma or BSc in Translation, Interpreting, or a similar field
⦁ Level 5 or 6 HSK Certificate is a must
⦁ Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus
⦁ 4-5 years as a Chinese translator
