CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

JB Group is a premium lifestyle brand offering men and women’s fashion, athleisure, accessories, and sportswear. The company has developed from a sports shop to a successful fashion & lifestyle retail store. We are currently looking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) situated in Gaborone.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide strategic leadership, direction, and management to our organization. Responsible for making crucial decisions that impact the overall direction and success of the organization. The primary role involves balancing the interests of various stakeholders, ensuring the organization’s long-term growth, and delivering value to shareholders, employees, customers, and the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify emerging market trends and opportunities, positioning the company for sustained growth and competitive advantage.
  • Engage, build, and nurture relationships with various stakeholders, including customers, investors, partners, employees, regulatory bodies, and the wider industry community.
  • Accountable for the financial health of the organization and the driving of financial performance through effective bud­geting, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring that products/services meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Represent the company in various industry events, conferences, and media engagements.
  • Develop and execute a compelling vision and strategic plan in alignment with the company’s mission and objectives. This involves setting long-term goals, identifying growth opportunities, and adapting to changes in the market and industry.
  • Provide leadership to the executive team and guide the organization’s leadership in executing the company’s strategies.
  • Creating a cohesive and motivated team, aligning everyone towards common goals. Drive innovation within the organization to remain competitive and relevant.
  • Responsible for upholding strong corporate governance practices and maintaining ethical standards throughout the organization. Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations as well as promoting a culture of integrity.
  • To lead the organization towards its defined goals, uphold its values, make informed decisions, and create an environment that fosters growth, innovation, and success.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum twenty-five (25) years’ post qualification experience of which at least- fifteen plus in a Senior Executive Manage­ment and leadership position.
  • Demonstrable capabilities in business development and technical understanding of project delivery are also critical for this role.
  • Knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management, and general finance and budgeting.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce.
  • Understanding of human resources and personnel management.
  • Experience with corporate governance.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate.
  • Good grounding in and understanding of national & cross border retail industry will be an added advantage.

Remuneration: Compensation will be commensurate with experience for deserving Candidate.
