Cash Center Team Leader

To supervise all functions relating to the timely, safe management of local and foreign currency to and from the cash center within agreed deadlines and manage tight compliance to Internal standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of the cash center within agreed standards and deadlines
  • Co-ordinate the country’s centralized cash center to ensure the entire branch network is supplied with local and foreign currency
  • Liaise with Central Bank to request cash; count, confirm and verify cash and fill the vault (daily)
  • Liaise with Treasury to request foreign currency from RMB (USD. ZAR. GBP and euro)
  • Liaise with branches every day to check their cash status to be able to meet their cash requirements
  • Co-ordinate branch cash runs to supply branches with requested cash amounts
  • Monitor branches’ adherence to their cash limits (there are different limits for different branches and for different times of the month)
  • Sort, count and verify large volumes of cash received from branches and notify branch. Central Bank and RMB (via Treasury)
  • 100% correlation between figures recorded in the cash register and amount of cash in the vault
  • Satisfactory audits discrepancies or fake notes, including checking the packaging per denomination to ensure these have been bundled correctly
  • Monitor to ensure notes received are still in circulation
  • Repatriate excess cash (local currency) to the Central Bank
  • Repatriate excess cash (foreign currency) to Treasury to repatriate to RMB

Key requirements for this role

  • Relevant Business Degree; holding a Diploma le.g from Institute of Bankers) in addition to the degree qualification will be an added advantage)
  • Minimum 4 years’ Cash Management experience: experience as a Teller or Bulk Teller advantageous .
  • Highly numerate
  • Sound knowledge of Cash Management procedures .
  • Sound knowledge of security procedures and protocols .
  • Relevant risk and compliance knowledge .
  • Knowledge of the full MS Office suite
