Job Description

Geoflux wishes to appoint suitably qualified experienced and appropriately registered individuals for the positions of:
CAD TECHNICIAN
An expanding Consulting Engineering firm based in Gaborone invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of CAD Technician. The candidate will be responsible with production of quality drawings. Required standard of drawings is accurate, technically informative and good presentation. Area of competency required is in production of layouts and detailed civil and structural drawings. This includes infrastructure (roads, stormwater, sanitation) steel and concrete. The technician will work closely with design engineers and other design team members and must effectively plan, schedule drawing office work and actual production of drawings.
This position is tenable at Geoflux Head-Office in Gaborone

Qualification and Experience

• Applicant must have a minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Diploma in Highway/Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent is the minimum qualification requirement. Candidate
must be competent in CAD (Release 2018 or latest).
• A fair knowledge of other engineering software such as Prokon and civil designer packages would be an added advantage.
• ERB Registration as a Professional Practicing Technician is a must.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Develops and maintains the drawing office database, classification, and indexing system for easy referencing.
• Performs quality checks and corrects completed drawings and schematics.
• Understands draughting principles, including orthographic projection, section views, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
• Should have excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy of drawings.
• Be able to understand design requirements and effectively communicate with other members of the design team.
• Aids in interpreting design requirements and creating accurate drawings.
• Should be able to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Have ability to propose and improve solutions and think critically with logic.
