Purpose of the Role

To provide an effective mineral resource grade control service to meet the operation’s production objectives through collection, validation, data capture and interpretation of geological and mining production data.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Recommends cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters.
  • Execute geological data collection for use in the planning process through
  • Compiles and consolidates geological and production data into databases, and uses the information to update production reports
  • Directs Ore to correct destinations. Ensures that stockpiles are properly prepared for stockpiling. Minimises ore loss to waste. (Report daily Stockpile status, Tracks material stockpiling and report Deviations)
  • Conducts Post blast muckpile analyses for every kimberlite loading area (dilution analyses)
  • Collects production data timeously and informs the Mining and Ore Processing departments accordingly
  • Compiles an accurate record of lithologies, tons, carats, estimated dilution and grade mined for the shift and reconcile with Dispatch and Survey data ensures that they meet the agreed standards
  • Communicates monitoring results to management for rectification and for information through routine and special reports and implements corrective action
  • Assists Mine Geologist in undertaking geological projects in order to increase mineral resource estimates confidence levels and dilution/ore loss risk mitigations by:
  • Implements self-development programmes through:
  • Attaining set objectives and coaching goals to ensure that set targets are met
  • Adheres to all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility

Education

  • BSc in Geology

Experience

Minimum 2 year post qualification experience

Legal Certification/Professional Registration
