Assistant Camp Manager Advertisement

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Assistant Camp Manager is responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of a luxury safari lodge. To provide leadership and development of staff, maintain lodge facilities and provide a level of hospitality which meets the company’s minimum standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full responsibility for guests during their stay from arrival to departure.
  • Assist in controls, orders, and stock keeping of all consumables, equipment. fuel and linen with use of appropriate systems to ensure there is no opportunity for theft or wastage.
  • Hosting of guests at all meals and being the main point of contact for guests for the duration of their stay.
  • Assist in managing and leading the front of house team.
  • Assisting in administration and in management of all oth er areas of the camp.
  • Inspect quest rooms, public areas, and grounds for
cleanliness and appearance.
  • Guest Experience and Hosting of all visitors to the camp according to the camp ethos of managing a balance between privacy/space and a warm down-to-earth hosting by management.
  • Ensuring guests receive personal attention and specific special requests are taken care of within reason.Maintaining all aspects of facilities and assets in the camp and back of house through best practice of hygiene and safety standards for both guests and staff.
  • Assist in Staff Management of all employees at camp, including daily oversight, disciplinary issues, recommen dations for hiring/firing, off duty roster and approvals and implementation of Human Resource (HR) documentation and requirements.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
  • Minimum 2 years of Camp Management experience.

Diploma/Degree in management or related Tourism

Management field

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent Customer Service and an ability to build strong relationship.
  • Excellent Communication, Negotiation, Computer and
  • Analytical skills required.

Able to work flexible schedule.

  • Patience dealing with difficult customers.
  • Leadership skills, team orientation.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Previous experience in Bush Safari Camps will be highly advantageous.
