WE ARE HIRING
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Department in the effective management of financial operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, accuracy in financial reporting, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
JOB TITLE: Assistant Accountant
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Permanent
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Reporting
- Assist with revenue management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger reporting.
- Support monthly financial statement analysis and variance reporting.
- Assist with tax returns, financial audits, and year-end audit processes.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and city ledger reconciliations.
- Support budget preparation, monthly closings, inventories, and P&L activities.
Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
- Manage customer account queries, disputes, and credit applications.
- Conduct periodic credit checks and monitor credit limits.
- Reconcile debtor accounts and maintain accurate AR ageing.
- Ensure timely billing, follow-ups on overdue accounts, and escalate collections where necessary.
- Maintain bad debt reserves and manage unallocated payments.
Cash Management & Revenue Control
- Perform cash handling and reconcile daily cash drops.
- Reconcile credit card transactions and bank statements.
- Ensure accurate taxation on all transactions and POS systems.
- Review daily revenue postings, payments, and guest balances.
Systems, Data & Administration
- Maintain accounting databases and ensure timely data entry.
- Set up customer accounts and reconcile open items.
- Process reimbursable invoices and maintain vendor contract files.
Payroll & Inventory
- Process or verify payroll information.
- Conduct rotating monthly inventory audits and maintain inventory records.
Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Maintain complete audit trails and verify supporting documentation.
- Ensure adherence to finance policies, internal controls, and standards.
- Recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy in finance operations.
Communication & Team Support
- Collaborate effectively with other departments.
- Support the Finance Manager in all scheduled finance and departmental activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or Full AAT.
- Experience in hotel finance operations will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and reconciliation skills.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and MS Excel.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be a full member of BICA.
