Job Description

Alexander Forbes invites interested candidates to apply for the position of Senior Technical Manager. The individual will join a team reporting to the Executive Operation and Administration.

The role

  • To oversee the effective management and functioning of the Administration operation servicing of Clients. This role also requires the individual to assume the role of effective and efficient management of all operational activities, processes and system by ensuring the smooth running of the allocated business operations. This will include a significant contribution to a new system implementation project.
  • To create relationships with internal and external clients and to promote a culture of high performance, innovation, ambition and continuous improvement within the department.
  • This role is a critical part of our ongoing commitment to excellence in the delivery of a superior administration service.

Key Performance Areas

  • Management of day to day operations in line with best practices and internal and external service level standards
  • Monitor quality and quantity of outputs
  • Review and authorise work as per authority matrix
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately
  • Contributes to the ongoing identification and mitigation of new risks through the assessment of external influences and internal changes
  • Ability to mitigate risk. Assesses how external influences and internal changes may impact the business area, systems, processes and activities
  • Financial Responsibilities as directed by the Executive Operations and Administration.
  • Financial Management to ensure Operational Success
  • Support and maintain the development of best practice maps, process and procedure documents.
  • Build and maintain exceptional internal and external client relationships

Interested candidates will need to demonstrate the following:

Qualifications/ Experience

  • A Business related degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years management experience
  • Minimum of 7 years retirement funds industry experience with a focus on Employee Benefits Administration

.            COP, ICIBS

  • Alex / Compen experience an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Pension funds and related legislation
  • Strong knowledge of Employee Benefit Industry

  • Strong knowledge of the financial services business and applicable legislation such as Pension Funds Act.

  • This position requires that the individual demonstrates strong servicing skills, and is keen and experienced in client operational servicing standards.
  • Performs duties within own area independently and with direction from line manager.
  • Accountable for execution of teams and implementation of assigned transactions, projects or tasks. Accountable for the efficient operation of systems, practices and procedures.
