The Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority Act 2006 (amended in 2016) established the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA), to regulate and enforce compliance within the non-bank financial institutions sector in order to safeguard the stability, fairness and efficiency of the sector. The Authority is inviting candidates with proven leadership capability, strong business acumen and impeccable integrity to apply for the following positions tenable in Gaborone:
DIRECTOR RETIREMENT FUNDS
Main Purpose of the Job
We seek candidates who can successfully be responsible for Senior level decision making, day to day management and strategic direction for the regulation of Retirement Funds. Expertly guide the work of the Department’s staff, steer them towards effective delivery of the Department’s mandate and achievement of its goals, whilst ensuring optimal use of resources.
Key Responsibilities
The Candidate will be responsible for the following, inter alia:
- Overseeing the formulation, review and implementation of relevant policies, strategies, rules, regulations, systems and procedures that are meant to facilitate the delivery of the department’s mandate
- Lead the development and continuous review of the legislative and regulatory framework for the sub-sector in order to create a stable, efficient, orderly and fair market
- Lead the budgeting, planning and control as well as periodic reporting of Department’s performance plans and targets
- Ensure that all regulatory activities are conducted in strict compliance with the governing laws
- Participate as an expert in the regulatory reform process for the sub-sector
- Providing expert leadership guidance and advice in the development of special investigative techniques for assessment of compliance
- Manage the Departments People in an effective manner, encouraging growth and development through mentoring and coaching.
- Preside over risk and quality management functions of the department
- Foster a close working relationship with sister departments within Regulatory Services and with key regulatory support Departments
- Recommend and Lead adaptation of services to suit new or changing organisational needs and operations
Qualifications and Experience
The right candidate will possessthefollowing qualifications and credentials:
- At least a Master’s in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field from a recognized institution
- At least 12 years of experience post-qualification in regulation of financial sector, preferably with focus on the relevant sub-sector
- This must include a minimum of 3-4 years in a senior management position
