Position Overview:
The General Manager will report to the Directors and will be expected to start up a newly constructed high throughput cattle abattoir to develop and grow it into a leading local and international meat supplier of choice. This will primarily be executed by maintaining a high standard of hygiene and an efficient operational system, including a dedicated and highly motivated workforce.
Job Description:
- The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, creative and visionary leader.
- Capable of overseeing the entire operation of an integrated 250 cattle-a-day abattoir facility, in line with the company’s vision.
- Possesses relevant qualifications and experience in the industry, holding a similar position or equivalent.
- Has the ability to start from scratch, and participate in and spearhead the employment processes of other management positions and other supporting staff.
- Has the requisite skills and ability to establish necessary operational systems and procedures to comply with domestic and international industry standards.
- Has the ability to meet compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements for domestic and export markets.
- Is capable of developing a cattle procurement and marketing strategy that will translate into a budget forecast for approval by the Directors.
- Will submit monthly and quarterly management reports to the Directors for performance monitoring purposes.
Requirements & Skills:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role.
- Experience in planning and budgeting.
- Knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
- Strong analytical ability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
- Problem-solving aptitude.
Remuneration:
- The remuneration of the General Manager is negotiable based on qualification, experience, and current market rates
