Title:  Project Geotechnical Engineer

Location:  Gaborone, BW

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Analyses the geotechnical engineering financial needs for the project and develops a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet project business needs
  • Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters
  • Initiates and manages geotechnical investigations and research studies to provide technical solutions for the project
  • Coordinates slope stability analysis using limit equilibrium and numerical modeling techniques and provides slope design parameters to the project team
  • Investigates the need to optimize pit slope angle designs and then develops, evaluates and prioritizes geotechnical data acquisition schedule for input into the slope angle designs
  • Plans and coordinates the internal and external reviews as well as geotechnical processes to ensure that they meet company standards
  • Coordinates and manages the implementation of and compliance to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements (Anglo Project Way – APW)
  • Ensures that all project geotechnical databases, models and documents are securely managed
  • Optimizes project success through the development, implementation and maintenance of a structured, iterative approach that drives early geotechnical risk identification and analysis affording sufficient time to plan
  • Establishes and maintains effective relations with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of project objectives

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Geo-Sciences or relevant discipline or equivalent

Experience

5 years relevent post graduate experience in Goetechnical Engineering or similar environment.
