RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support to the Country Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing in the execution of the role in Government, Media and Community Relations, Communication (internal & external) and Stakeholder management objectives as well as Issues Management in order to achieve the Corporate Affairs strategic goals in line with the Bank-wide objectives.

Strategy:

  • Support the Country Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing in execution of Country Corporate Affairs strategy and planning processes, aligning with (and challenging) Group aspirations.
  • Understand and support the implementation of corporate, business and internal communications including media relations/interactions.
  • Support the Country Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing in the execution of the in-country strategy and country government regulatory relations framework engaging the key government and regulatory officials.
  • Adhere to the Group Communications policy in country.

Business:

  • Provide strategic and tactical communications inputs to all Marketing, Community and Sponsorship initiatives to enhance visibility of all SCB Brand.
  • Communications Plans: Work closely with the product teams across the various segments to develop communications plans that speak effectively to the needs of the customer and drive the narrative of the Brand. In addition, use consumer, competitor and research insights to provide thought leadership
  • Strategic Media and Marketing Communication:  work with the various creative and media agencies to ensure effective communication both BTL and ATL.
  • Digital Marketing:  work with both the digital and social media agency to ensure the effective utilization of communication.

Processes:

  • Support the delivery of the strategic direction of Communications, Community and Media Relations strategies and processes within a Group/ Regional level to ensure continuous improvement, sharing best practice and that the appropriate initiatives are in place.

Risk Management:

  • Provide the appropriate oversight of the risk framework particularly for the CABM function.

Governance:

 

  • Support the Country Head of Corporate Affairs & Brand & Marketing in ensuring compliance with all related CABM policies in country.

Regulatory & Business Conduct:

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing Function to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles Provide a conducive environment for the CABM function by observing the correct conduct at all times.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Provide Secretarial duties for the Botswana education trust, an Independent SCB entity.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in Botswana; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures for the Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing function.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or business
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in communications, preferably in large corporates with a track record of implementing successful cross – functional communications strategies
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Proven measurement and analytic capability, especially in relation to ROI
  • Ability to work with teams, manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
  • Comfortable in interfacing with external clients
  • Superior influencing and negotiation skills
  • Superior stakeholder management
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office suite
