Job Summary
On behalf of HEART CORPORATION, one of the leading private companies in Japan recruiting Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for 34+ years for the Japanese public schools, the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana in Japan, the Ministry of International Relations, and the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education, invites qualified teachers from Botswana to apply for the position of ALTs tenable in Japan’s public elementary and junior high schools starting in April 2027.
Key Responsibilities
ALTs work alongside Japanese teachers in public schools, helping students learn English language through games, conversation, debates, excursions, and cultural exchange. They are not the main teachers, but assist Japanese teachers/they are assistants. Moreover, ALTs share their culture (they are cultural ambassadors), broaden young minds, and gain an experience that will change their (ALTs’) life as well. ALTs may be assigned to multiple schools, usually working at one school each day, and rotating between their assigned schools during the week.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Education, English or Humanities (teaching)
Strong English communication skills
Valid passport and ID
Eligibility for a Japanese work Visa
Professional, flexible, adaptable, and passion for teaching and working with children
Available to start in April 2027
No Japanese language ability needed
Age between 20-59 years old
Openness to learning about Japanese culture, people, and lifestyle
Willingness to relocate within Japan
Ability to purchase your own airline ticket
Registration with the Botswana Teaching Professional Council (BOTEP CO) is an added advantage.
Salary
Y2,110,000 – Y3,000,000 (Japanese Yen) / Approximately: P177,700.00 – P253,000,000 (Botswana Pula)
