Summary
This position is responsible for leading the IT team and overseeing IT service delivery across all Botswana sites.
Description
The role ensures reliable, secure, and well-governed IT operations that meet business needs. Acting as the key liaison between IT and business units, the incumbent oversees core business systems and supports IT projects, operational readiness, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Key Performance Areas
Leadership & Supervision
– Supervise and coordinate the IT Technical Specialist, IT Security Specialist, and IT Systems Administrator across all Botswana sites.
– Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance support to IT staff.
IT Operations & Service Delivery
– Supervise day-to-day IT operations, including infrastructure, networks, communications, end-user support, and cybersecurity.
– Ensure IT incidents are resolved promptly through appropriate escalation, follow-up, and closure.
– Maintain accurate IT asset registers and oversee lifecycle management of IT equipment.
Business Systems & Integration
– Work with business units to understand their core systems, operational requirements, and IT support needs.
– Oversee the implementation, integration, development, improvement, and administration of core business systems.
– Ensure business requirements are clearly understood, prioritized, and addressed by IT solutions.
– Oversee ERP support, including user access, incident resolution, system configuration, integrations, upgrades, vendor coordination, and data integrity.
– Coordinate ERP enhancements by gathering business requirements, prioritising changes, supporting testing, maintaining documentation, and monitoring adoption.
– Lead the delivery of data analytics solutions by defining reporting requirements, validating data quality, and developing dashboards and insights that support operational decision-making.
– Establish data governance practices for reporting and analytics, including data ownership, access controls, definitions, retention, and accuracy.
Governance, Security & Risk Management
– Ensure adherence to IT policies, standards, governance frameworks, and security requirements.
– Coordinate with Group IT to implement and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity plans.
– Coordinate with Group IT to track identified business-related IT risks and ensure timely mitigation or resolution.
– Identify gaps in IT service delivery, develop corrective procedures, and coordinate their rollout across IT and business teams.
Financial & Vendor Management
– Assist in IT budgeting, procurement, and cost management.
– Monitor vendor and service-provider performance to ensure accountability and compliance with service-level agreements.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
– Support IT projects under the IT Manager’s guidance by coordinating resources and ensuring operational readiness.
– Promote IT best practices and deliver awareness and training sessions across the organization.
– Develop and deliver AI awareness sessions covering approved use cases, prompt practices, data privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, bias, and the verification of AI-generated outputs.
– Support responsible AI adoption by assessing proposed tools and use cases, coordinating risk and privacy reviews, maintaining guidance, and monitoring compliance with company policies.
Reporting Responsibilities
– Prepare regular reports on IT operations, incidents, risks, service performance, user-support trends, and improvement opportunities.
– Assist the IT Manager with reports on IT budgeting, expenditure, vendor performance, and SLA compliance.
– Report on progress on IT projects, system integrations, and improvement initiatives.
– Support Group IT risk reporting by monitoring IT-related risks and the status of mitigation actions.
– Develop and maintain dashboards that summarize IT performance and highlight areas requiring improvement.

Qualification & Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline (industry certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Management Development Programme; MDP advantageous).
– Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
– Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity practices.
– Experience with business systems implementation, integration, and administration.
– Exposure to vendor management, procurement, and IT budgeting.
– Familiarity with IT practices and IT governance frameworks (advantageous)
