Tebelopele is a non-profit health and wellness organization dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of communities across Botswana for over 25 years. Tebelopele facilities are situated in 23 locations serving residents in rural and urban areas. Tebelopele is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the Quality Assurance Officer role.

Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Officer will provide technical leadership and coordination for Tebelopele Wellness Center’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) system, ensuring that program and service-delivery challenges are systematically identified, analyzed, tested and resolved using evidence-based quality improvement methodologies, particularly the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) approach. The officer will work across all TWC sites to build capacity in training staff on CQI concepts, tools, and methodologies, building staff capacity in data use, problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and PDSA cycles, and facilitating CQI learning sessions and peer-learning platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • CQI System Development and Coordination: Develop, maintain and implement the organization’s CQI framework, tools, SOPs, guidelines, templates and reporting mechanisms. Coordinate the annual CQI workplan and maintain a central CQI project tracker.
  • Identification of Quality Gaps: Work with M&E and program teams to identify performance gaps using routine program data, DHIS2 data, DQA findings, clinical audits, supervision reports, client feedback, complaints and compliments, service utilization trends, missed appointments and IIT data, commodity availability, staff observations, program reviews, and milestone performance.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Facilitate systematic analysis of identified problems using appropriate RCA tools, including 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa analysis, process mapping, Pareto analysis, cause-and-effect analysis, and workflow analysis.
  • PDSA Implementation: Provide technical support to CQI teams through all four stages of the PDSA cycle.
  • CQI Capacity Building: Train staff on CQI concepts and PDSA methodology, facilitate RCA training, mentor site-based CQI teams, conduct CQI coaching visits, develop job aids and learning materials, and establish communities of practice.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in quality management/public health, nursing, or other health-related discipline/Business Administration Management/Monitoring and Evaluation.

Experience: At least 2-5 years of relevant experience in quality assurance or quality improvement.
