Job Summary

The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) invites applications from suitably qualified professionals for the position of Procurement Officer, who will report to the Procurement Manager and support the effective implementation of procurement activities in line with PPR Act, and the Authority’s policies, procedures, and regulatory mandate.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer procurement processes to ensure compliance with the PPR Act and BERA policies and procedures.
• Review, analyse, and process requests for the purchase of goods and services.
• Develop supplier contracts and negotiate favourable terms to optimise procurement costs.
• Initiate procurement of goods and services, prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure compliance with PPRA and procurement obligations.
• Coordinate inventory management activities by maintaining accurate stock records, monitoring stock levels, supporting regular stock counts, and ensuring the timely replenishment of goods to meet operational requirements.
• Research, evaluate, and vet prospective suppliers.
• Maintain and update supplier databases and procurement records.
• Support building and maintaining productive relationships with suppliers.
• Assist in the preparation of procurement budgets and cost analyses.
• Compile procurement reports and maintain procurement documentation.
• Assist to track procurement expenditure to ensure documentation.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in supply management, CIPS, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Professional certification and membership with a recognised procurement or supply chain body, such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), MCIPS is mandatory.
