Key Responsibilities

Formulate and implement strategies, systems and programmes which promote and enhance investment in the tourism industry. Develop, evaluate and operationalize tourism products to drive the Organisation’s mandate. Provide strategic leadership in advancing tourism investment and product development by driving the identification, selection, structuring, development and implementation of tourism projects in accordance with the Botswana Tourism Organisation Act. The role involves the end-to-end development of tourism initiatives in collaboration with individuals, the private sector, and community-based organisations. It identifies tourism projects developed as a market-driven and investable standard, while ensuring sustainable impact, include participation, and the long-term growth of Botswana’s tourism sector. Support the formulation, cascading and implementation of the Organisation strategy to drive the successful delivery of BTO objectives. Identify and manage investment, operational, financial and reputational risks across all tourism project and also develop mitigation strategies for regulatory, climate and environmental risks. Develop, implement and monitor the investment and Product Development department’s annual work plans. Conduct research to identify new products based on marketability, investment potential and geographic distribution. Design, structure, and facilitate viable investment models that attract strategic investors and control their returns. Liaise with Marketing and Quality Services departments to attract marketable and quality control in the development of new products. Evaluate existing Organisation’s tourism projects for operationalization, investment promotion and increase financial output. Oversee the performance, financial sustainability and operational efficiency of BTO-supported projects. Liaise with Land Offices and relevant stakeholders for identification of land with tourism potential for development and investment. Facilitate Trusts to develop potential of Community Based Organisations; Support capacity building and investment readiness of community-based organisations. Develop, support and manage competent human capital and cross-functional team from the Product Development, Estates, Investment, Facilitation and Satellite Offices functions ensuring operational excellence and organisational continuity.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Tourism Management, Natural Resources Management or equivalent. Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or business-related field. Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain and Materials Management, CIPS level 6/CPM or Equivalent or Business-related degree. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) will be an added advantage. MCIPS, CMLIT or Institute for Supply Chain Management (ISP) or National Council for Certified Management Accountants (NCCMA) will be an added advantage. At least ten (10) years’ experience in Procurement or supply chain management environment of which five (5) years must have been at Management level.
