Key Responsibilities
(i) Assist in Managing the departmental music laboratory through monitoring of lab equipment and supervision of lab activities; (ii) Provide technical assistance to staff members in the use of musical instruments during the teaching of music education; (iii) Organizing and cataloguing all audio musical instruments and materials (iv) Provide support during the conducting of tutorials; (v) Order equipment and supplies (recording studio discs, sound equipment, instruments, etc. as assigned; (vi) Prepare schedules for student recitals, band and choral concerts; (vii) Facilitate the logistics of approved music group performances; (viii) Detect and report faults within the premises; (ix ) Demonstrate and monitor equipment or materials for experiments to students and researchers; (x) Communicate effectively to understand laboratory or workshop requirements and help accordingly; (xi) Maintain a clean and organized laboratory/ workshop/ studio environment following health and safety protocols and guidelines; (xii) Participate in the identification and mitigation of operational risks; (xiii) Respond to customer/ stakeholder queries and inquiries related to area of expertise; (xiv) Collaborate with other units as needed to effectively deliver duties as defined; (xv) Actively engage with the professional community to support and develop expertise in area of profession; (xvi) Comply with relevant regulations and legislation and (xvii) Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor/Line Manager/Head of School in line with their role.
Requirements
Candidates should have at least: (i) A Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field. (ii) Knowledge of music notation and use of relevant software. Added advantages: (i) at least one year experience as a technician in the music field, (ii) working at university or comparable institution, (iii) experience of handling and using of more than two musical instruments, (v) m ember of a recognised and relevant professional body. Other Requirements: (i) Ability to operate and troubleshoot various educational technologies and equipment; (ii) Evidence of ensuring accuracy in preparation of materials and grading; (iii) Basic understanding of technical equipment and maintenance procedures; (iv) Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop technical skills; (v) Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
