Contracts Administrator (2 Years Fixed Term Contract)

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The Contracts Administrator will be responsible for executing the contract administration process and coordinating all interfaces within a project and the company. The candidate must ensure process integrity, provide commercial experience and insight, and protect the company against risk exposure.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Maintaining compliance to all contracts.
  • Ensuring understanding and management of contracts.
  • Supporting in negotiations of claims, variations, changes, and disputes with contractors in collaboration with Project Management, Legal Department and others as required.
  • Ensuring communication of changes to contracts to all key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that stakeholders understand and utilize contracts.
  • Ensuring contract administration and subcontracting procedures and processes meet contract requirements.
  • Developing and administering contracts and procurement compliance plans.
  • Ensuring communications between Company and contractors are consistent with terms and conditions in agreements.
  • Following up on contractual items on a regular basis.
  • Interfacing internal departments and external vendors on matters such as cost, performance, progress, assessment, payments, reporting, trends, and change orders.
  • Acting as a liaison and coordinator amongst key stakeholders.
  • Reporting contract(s) performance on a regular basis.
  • Commercial and financial management relating to contractors’ monthly claims, variations, escalation monitoring and tender evaluations.
  • Leading a contracts team and development of staff to ensure performance and achieve targets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Degree in Contracts Management, Business Administration, Law, Accounting, or Economics.
  • CIPS Level 4 (or above) preferred.
  • Minimum 7-9 years’ experience in a contract administration role in a mining environment.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, accounting principles and finance.
  • Strong knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to relevant contracts and the negotiation of terms and conditions.
  • Superior attention to detail in order to spot inconsistencies in contracts.
  • Previous experience in the mining sector.
