This role serves as the primary interface between the Exploration Asset and key community and government stakeholders in Botswana, ensuring continued land access to support the Company’s Exploration activities across its portfolio.

Key Performance Areas:
• Develop and implement comprehensive land access strategies and plans aligned with Exploration plans, timelines, and budget requirements.
• Identify and map all affected stakeholders, including landholders, lawful occupiers, local communities and traditional authorities, and integrate stakeholder considerations into planning.
• Define access requirements for different Exploration activities, including drilling, geophysics, and sampling to ensure alignment with operational team planning requirements.
• Prepare and manage land access schedules, ensuring timely availability of access to meet exploration milestones.
• Initiate and coordinate processes for securing land access, including statutory permits, authorisations and land access agreements.
• Integrate legal, environmental, and social requirements into land access plans to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Proactively engage all relevant stakeholders, including landholders, lawful occupiers, local communities, and traditional authorities, to secure and maintain access.
• Communicate Exploration activities, potential impacts and land access requirements clearly to stakeholders to manage expectations and build understanding.
• Build and sustain trusted relationships with stakeholders to support long-term land access for Exploration activities and uphold the Company’s social license to operate.
• Maintain detailed records of stakeholder interactions, agreements, and commitments.
• Lead and facilitate negotiations for land access agreements, ensuring fair, transparent, and culturally appropriate outcomes for all parties.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously update a comprehensive land access register or database capturing all agreements related to Exploration activities, including land access agreements, permits, authorisations and compensation records.
• Maintain up-to-date land access maps, plans, and registers using GIS and land management systems.
• Manage grievances and land access related disputes through structured processes, ensuring timely, respectful, and culturally sensitive resolution.
• Collaborate closely with Exploration Geology, Drilling and Environmental teams to ensure land access planning supports efficient project execution.
• Collaborate with Community Relations team to ensure consistency in community stakeholder engagement approaches and messaging from the Company.
• Support the review and approval of internal land disturbance permit applications required for land disturbance associated with Exploration activities.
• Identify potential land access risks such as disputes, competing land uses, regulatory delays and seasonal constraints to develop proactive mitigation measures.
• Escalate critical risks and recommend corrective actions to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Develop, update, and implement land access procedures for Exploration in accordance with Company Group Standards.
• Compile and deliver periodic reports outlining land access status, key risks, constraints, and progress against Exploration schedules to support management decision making.
• Carry out any other duties or responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned by the immediate supervisor to support the effective delivery of Exploration objectives.

Qualification & Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations/Communications, Environment, Community Development or a related field (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum of 4 years’ relevant work experience, preferably within the mining or extractive industry.
• Demonstrated experience in community relations and stakeholder engagement.
• Fluency in Naro, Shekgalagari, Afrikaans, and other languages spoken within the Ghanzi District (advantageous).
• Good understanding of local community structures, cultures, leadership systems, customs, and practices, preferably through prior community involvement (advantageous).
• Valid Class B Driver’s Licence.
