SENIOR FIELD COORDINATOR
Location: Gaborone with 80% travel to rural project sites
Preferred start date: 16 March 2026
Main Purpose of the Job
The Senior Field Coordinator will be the regional lead responsible for hands-on delivery in assigned areas. They will ensure flawless protocol adherence, high data quality, timely execution, and strong stakeholder relationships in remote rural settings.
The Senior Field Coordinator will spend most of their time in the field — conducting spot checks, back-checks (minimum 20% of samples), audits, on-site coaching, troubleshooting, and direct quality enforcement.
Key Performance Areas
· Team Management & Development: Participate in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and performance management of Field Coordinators and Field Agents. Deliver practical training on protocols, digital tools (e.g., Mavuno app), data quality standards, farmer engagement, and field safety.
· Project & Activity Oversight: Lead farmer sensitization, awareness, registration, profiling, and data collection campaigns. Supervise and coordinate all activities of Field Coordinators/Supervisors and Field Agents/Enumerators. Manage execution of farmer registration and profiling using Mavuno (ensuring GPS accuracy, photo capture, server syncing). Lead Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) plot sampling, measurements, weighing, and yield data integrity. Support yield index insurance payout processes (field verification, issue resolution) when required. Assist with client training, farmer mobilisation, workshops, and product launches.
· Quality Assurance & Field Monitoring: Enforce 100% adherence to Phoenix’s data collection protocols, guidelines, and quality standards across the team. Conduct frequent field visits for monitoring, audit checks, back-checks, spot checks, on-site coaching/support, and rapid issue diagnosis. Review completed forms, questionnaires, and polygons for accuracy, completeness, and compliance (including mandatory image syncing to server).
· Stakeholder & Operational Coordination: Coordinate with client field staff, insurance auditors, government extension agents/officials, and local partners. Handle and resolve farmer/stakeholder complaints. Maintain and troubleshoot data collection equipment (smartphones, tablets, GPS devices). Assist in budget setting, expense tracking/recording, and reconciliation per organisational guidelines.
· Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and submit regular, accurate reports on progress (registrations completed, CCEs conducted, data quality KPIs), challenges, and achievements.

Minimum Qualifications
· A BSc degree in Project Management, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or a degree in Business/ management related field.
Experience
· 3–5+ years of progressive experience in field-based supervision of teams in agriculture, rural data collection, insurance, or development programs.
· Proven track record leading farmer registration, profiling, yield measurement (Crop Cutting Experiments), and digital data collection on a regional scale.
· Strong hands-on quality assurance skills — experienced in conducting spot checks, back-checks, audits, and real-time issue resolution in remote areas.
· Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and hold field teams accountable under tight seasonal deadlines and challenging conditions.
· Excellent field logistics, problem-solving, and communication skills in low-connectivity, rural environments.
· Comfortable with extensive rural travel, long field days
· Intermediate Excel and digital tool proficiency (advantage).
