Job Description

Field Agents are to collect primary crop data from large-scale farms in Botswana. This hands-on role supports agricultural research through precise fieldwork on maize, sorghum, and groundnut fields for a period of Sixteen (16) weeks.
Location (Dristics): Central, Chobe, Francistown, Jwaneng, Kgalagadi, Kgatleng, Kweneng, North East, Northwest , Southern.
 Preferred Start Date: 16 March 2026
Main Purpose of the Job
Reporting directly to the Field Associate Manager, the Field Coordinator will provide essential hands-on support to the field team in the assigned district. They will ensure maximum efficiency on the ground by training, supervising, auditing, and coaching Field Agents, while maintaining high standards of data quality, protocol adherence, and stakeholder coordination in remote rural settings. This work directly supports accurate yield data, timely insurance payouts, and farmer trust in the program.
Key Performance Areas
· Conduct initial and refresher Field Agent training on protocols, tools (e.g., Mavuno app), data quality, farmer engagement, and safety.
· Assist in setting project budgets, track/record expenses, and reconcile spending against approved budgets.
· Lead farmer sensitisation and training: set work plans, organise and deliver farmer training and Training-of-Trainers sessions with local counterparts/client staff, collect accurate/complete participant data.
· Provide field management support for Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs).
· Handle and resolve customer complaints from farmers and stakeholders as needed.
· Report weekly to supervisor on progress, wins, blockers, and all incidents.
· Coordinate with client field staff and insurance auditors to facilitate visits and activities.
· Resolve queries from data or payout teams on specific data points within 48 hours.
· Evaluate end-of-season performance of Field Agents.
· Assist with organisation and attendance at local payout events, product launches, internal data audits, and any other duties as requested by management.

Minimum Qualifications
· At least a Diploma in Project Management, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Business/Management, or a closely related field.
Experience
· 2+ years of proven experience working directly with farmers, field teams, clients, project stakeholders, and Agro-dealers in agriculture, insurance, rural development, or data collection contexts.
· Hands-on experience in data collection, field surveys, and basic data management/quality checks.
· Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively and build trust with clients, farmers, Field Agents, and Agro-dealers.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently in multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and multicultural environments.
· Excellent communication (verbal & written), organizational, and time-management skills.
· Fluent in English and Setswana (proficiency in relevant local languages of the project district is essential.
· Intermediate Excel skills (an advantage).
· Resident in the project district — already living in or deeply connected to the operational rural area.
