Maintenance

Motheo Copper Mine, Ghanzi, BOTSWANA

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all electrical maintenance activities within the Motheo Copper Processing Plant to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of plant electrical systems.

Key Performance Areas

  • Supervises and participates in the installation, inspection, testing, fault-finding, repair, and maintenance of plant electrical equipment.
  • Provides technical & cross functional support to the maintenance teams to ensure compliance with the Company’s processes and procedures.
  • Oversees that all preventative maintenance tasks’ are executed in accordance with the Company’s standards.
  • Provides cross functional support to the maintenance and planning teams in the area of responsibility.
  • Supervises, leads, and coordinates the daily activities of Artisan Electricians and Electrical Assistants within the processing plant.
  • Supervises electrica to resolve any construction or contractual disputes that may arise on-site.
  • Supervises electrical contractors during on-site activities.
  • Oversees electrical maintenance activities within the processing plant and related facilities with a strong focus on leading, supervising, training, developing and mentoring subordinates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and optimise maintenance practices.
  • Provides monthly reporting on electrical activities and performance.
  • Supports the implementation of condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centred maintenance initiatives.
  • Responsible for the area of responsibility’s adherence to the Company’s health, safety standards and policies.

Technical Competencies

  • Technical knowledge of industrial electrical systems, regulations, safety standards and plant equipment.
  • Sound understanding of Botswana Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Regulations.

Qualification & Experience

  • National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Electrical or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Valid Botswana Class B Driver’s license.
  • Supervisory / leadership training added advantage.
  • MV & HV switching authorisation or ability to be authorised, added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in industrial electrical maintenance with at least 3 years’ experience in a mining or copper processing plant environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience with process plant equipment (crushing, milling, flotation, filtration and tailings handling)
  • Experienced in working with CMMS systems.
