Job Purpose
The Account Executive is responsible for identifying and organising suitable insurance cover for corporate and commercial businesses covering short term products and group life products. The executive will be the liaison between clients and insurance companies, finding the best deal for corporate clients covering in both simpler areas of commercial insurance such as motor business all risk or dealing with more complex, high value areas such as marine, aviation and oil and gas.
The account executive develops risk management proposals and tailored risk solutions for clients and builds a pipeline of leads, converting these leads into sales.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Business Development: Acquiring new business through prospecting, networking, referrals and other channels to grow client book. Write quotes, determine premiums and coverage, and negotiate terms between underwriters and clients.
- Client Management: Managing relationships and portfolios of existing clients to ensure business retention and growth. Meet with clients regularly as per sales strategy.
- Client Service: Attending and responding to client’s queries and ensuring that they are attended to timeously and assisting walk-in clients as required.
- Renewals Management: Ensuring renewals are sent out before renewal period. Managing all lapses and potential lapses to ensure maximum retention.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Liaising with insurers and other key stakeholders on all aspects of clients’ accounts including premium administration, compliance and due diligence/KYC, and claims recoveries.
- Premium Management: Ensuring that premium collection and reconciliation is within the stipulated service standard and regulatory timelines. Ensuring timely placement of cover and taking responsibility of any debtors/outstanding accounts that go beyond 30 days and liaising with accounts for reconciliations.
- Reporting: Provision of monthly and weekly reports for the team including variance analysis and preparing forecasts.
- Product Development: Assisting in developing new products and schemes to address client needs.
- Training & Development: Assisting in training and development of all junior staff. Training of clientele on products, compliance, claims and other related areas.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance requirements are implemented and adhered to and are in line with relevant statutory requirements.
- Strategy Implementation: Contributing to the underwriting strategy development and implementation by participating in underwriting review process.
- Additional Duties: Any other activity as maybe assigned by your line manager relevant to the company or the department.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, accounting/finance, economics or any Business-related area
- COP in both life and short-term insurance
- A minimum of 4 years in a similar role in the insurance industry
Certifications & Licenses
- Driver’s license
Required Skills
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office tools; Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of insurance management software
- Knowledge of reporting
- Public speaking and interpersonal skills
- Experience of targeting new business preferable
- Proven communication skills with the ability to work across all levels
