About Company

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) serves as the supreme governing body for association football in Botswana, headquartered in Gaborone. Founded in 1966 shortly after the country’s independence, it later affiliated with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 1976 and FIFA in 1978. The BFA is responsible for overseeing all levels of the game, from grassroots development and youth leagues to the professional Botswana Premier League and the national teams. This includes managing the men’s national team, affectionately known as “The Zebras,” and the women’s national team, “The Mares.” Structurally, the association works through various regional blocks to ensure the sport’s administration reaches all corners of the country, maintaining a mission to professionalize football and improve infrastructure.

In recent years, the BFA has celebrated significant milestones under new leadership, including the election of Oabile Babitseng as president in late 2024. A major recent triumph for the association was the Zebras’ successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, marking only the second time in history the nation has reached the continental finals (the first being in 2012). This achievement has been coupled with renewed strategic partnerships, including high-level engagements with FIFA to secure “FIFA Forward” funding aimed at building technical centers and further strengthening youth and women’s football across Botswana
