Job Description
As a Fly Camp Chef you will responsible for managing and executing culinary operations in remote, mobile, or temporary camp locations — The menu will require experience in fire cooking and creating a unique link between food and guest experiences.
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality, nutritious, and timely meals in remote and rustic environments with limited kitchen infrastructure, ensuring guest satisfaction and compliance with hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Menu Planning & Food Preparation
- Design daily/weekly menus suitable for remote settings and guest preferences (including dietary restrictions).
- Prepare meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) using limited equipment and include the campfire as a key element.
- Ensure food is well-presented, flavorful, and consistent with the Wild Expeditions standards.
- Camp Kitchen Setup & Management
- Set up and manage a bush kitchen (often mobile or makeshift) including campfire cooking.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cooking and food storage areas.
- Oversee safe storage of perishable and non-perishable food items.
- Resource & Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and create requisition lists for supplies.
- Minimize waste through effective portion control and storage.
- Coordinate supply logistics with the main camp or procurement team.
- Health & Safety
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain personal hygiene and promote food safety awareness within the team.
- Report and resolve any food-related incidents or risks.
- Guest Interaction & Service
- Engage with guests when appropriate, enhancing their campfire dining experience.
- Accommodate special requests and provide personalized service.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as a chef, in remote or outdoor environments is a key requirement.
- Knowledge of bush cooking techniques (e.g., open flame, grill) is a key requirement.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with food safety standards.
- Physical stamina and adaptability to tough environments.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Qualifications
- Formal culinary training preferred but not always required.
