Job Description
You will be responsible for planning, organising and the overall coordination of all operational activities of GASCON and its terminals to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of transport/ logistics service to the customer in order to facilitate the achievement of Company’s objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Position Requirements:
- Develop an accurate and comprehensive operational plan for the terminal to create capacity and prioritise resources to meet the company’s strategic objectives.
- Direct and manage all aspects of terminal operations, including plant & equipment availability, train movements, warehousing, inventory management and dispatch.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels
- Lead and motivate a team of logistics professionals and maintenance technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with major stakeholders and third-party service providers to negotiate contracts, ensure compliance, and optimize service level agreements.
- Streamline the supply chain by analysing and optimizing internal processes, terminal layout, and stock levels to meet customer demands efficiently
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Monitor on-time train arrivals/dispatch, stock data accuracy, inventory turnover, and other relevant metrics to ensure operational excellence
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and international regulations related to container terminal logistics, transportation, and supply chain management.
- Develop and manage the operations budget, monitoring expenses, analysing variances, and implementing cost-saving initiatives
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within the logistics operations to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Manages workshop activities and ensures adherence to necessary and set equipment maintenance and repair schedules
- Adheres and promotes compliance to safety, health & environment policy to prevent operational risks and accidents
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management/Transport & Logistics/Business Administration, or any related field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- 10-15 years proven experience in operations management or any similar managerial role within the logistics or supply chain industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance related to logistics and supply chain management
