The University of Botswana, the only Comprehensive University in the country invites suitable candidates for the position of Director, Internal Audit in the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
The Director, Internal Audit is responsible for overseeing the internal audit function within the University, ensuring that the Department provides assurance and consulting services on risk management, corporate governance, and internal controls. The role involves leading a team of auditors, developing audit plans, conducting audits, and providing recommendations to enhance internal controls and operational efficiency.

Position Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications; applicant must have attained;
- Master’s degree in Audit, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional qualification (e.g, CIA, CISA, ACCA, CIMA) is required
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in Auditing, Finance, five(5) years of which should have been at middle management level/sectional head level
- Higher Education is preferred
Professional Registration or license
- BICA membership or eligibility to register
- IIA membership or equivalent will be an added advantage
Other requirements
- Demonstrate integrity, competence, due professional care, objectivity and free from undue influence.
- In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with the unique risks and challenges within the higher education sector is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, within the higher education sector are highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing audit team.
- Proven working experience as an Internal Auditor or Senior Auditor
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and database.
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
