Salary Scale: El (P512 148-P532 860) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Benefits:

Optional contributory medical aid scheme with the Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS) (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%). Government will also contribute 50% of the medical aid cover for individuals who are already members of a different Medical Aid Scheme other than the BPOMAS. A contract of 24 to 36 months, with a gratuity of 30% payable upon expiry of contract.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Data Science, Information Technology or any other related field.

Experience:

Minimum of sixteen (16) years’ working experience, two (2) years of which should have been served at E2 level in Government or equivalent role in the parastatals or private sectors.

Main purpose of the Job:

To oversee and coordinate Complaints Investigation and Enforcement for offences Committed pursuant to the data protection Act.

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Coordinates development and implementation of complaints Investigation and Enforcement policy guidelines, regulations, standards and strategies in accordance with personal data protection laws.
  2. Provides guidance and implements instructions required for conducting investigations in line with the principles of the Act.
  3. Oversees and enforces frameworks to protect personal data.
  4. Coordinates handling of complaints received from any person on infringement of the rights under the Data Protection Law.
  5. Oversees Investigation of or investigates complaints from Data Subjects regarding violation of the Act in respect of their personal data.
  6. Coordinates and supervises investigations of all reported and suspected incidences, cases policy/ procedure breaches and timely issuances of reports for management use either for internal or external actions in addressing root courses.
  7. Monitors the utilization of financial resources.
  8. Coordinates and manages staff performance by establishing and ensuring that contracts are signed with staff and that reviews are undertaken in accordance with Public Service PMS and agreed schedules.
  9. Fosters continual improvement of staff engagement by providing on-the job training, coaching and mentoring as needed, ensuring that all the staff meet or exceed the requirements of their performance contracts.
  10. Undertakes any other related duties as required to meet exigencies of the service.
