• AMBULANCE DRIVER

We are looking for suitably qualified, highly motivated, talented, innovative, hands on, dynamic team players capable of working both collaboratively and independently with a high level of integrity, strong commitment and desire to deliver operational excellence through Zero Harm. These positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland, therefore, you must still enjoy getting out on site and have the enthusiasm and interest to work in a remote location and in a multicultural work environment. Only Botswana citizens may apply.

• You must be familiar with the Mining Safety, Health and Environment requirements.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

To transport patients to health facilities, takes part in emergency response
activities, give general assistance at the mine site clinic.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be responsible for:
• Driving patients safely and quickly from the Mine to health facilities as directed by site clinic staff and maintaining the logbook for all trips.
• Sanitizing the ambulance and safely disposing of any medical waste and soiled linens.
• Assisting in the management of patients in an ambulance by following the instructions of the attending Nurse, operating stretchers, and wheelchairs to convey patient to site of medical assistance.
• Checking the first aid and medical supplies inventory levels before each shift and ensuring the ambulance is wellstocked.
• Complying with SHEC policies and procedures in all activities undertaken in order to minimise unsafe incidents and accidents.
• Performing daily inspection of the ambulance to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy, taking corrective action such as refuelling, topping up water and oil levels, tyre pressure,
etc… as appropriate, and completing the standard checklist.
• Cleaning the ambulance and/or assigned vehicle daily to maintain tidiness and a clean outlook at all times.
• Reporting faults to the Supervisor and liaising with the Mobile Fleet Section to arrange for regular servicing of the vehicle in accordance with maintenance schedule for the ambulance and for any repairs that need to be carried out.
• Adhering to National Road Safety Codes to safeguard passengers and goods being transported and ensuring continued serviceability of the vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EEFFEC TIVE PERFORMANCE:
• BGCSE.
• Five (5) years relevant driving experience.
• Excellent driving record
• Possession of a Valid First Aid Certificate and Defensive driving license.
• Possession of a paramedics’ certificate is an added advantage.
