CIRCULAR NO. 19 OF 2023

VACANCY: SUPERINTENDENT OF WORKS (D3)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for the above position in
the Ministry of Health, tenable at Southern District Health Management Team (DHMT).

SALARY: D3 (P279, 660 -P308, 328 per annum)

BENEFITS:
Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50%, Employee pays 50%).
Contributory Pension (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5% of basic salary.

LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of Diploma in Civil / Architectural/ Mechanical/ Electrical /Building Construction Engineering /Quantity Surveying.

EXPERIENCE:

A Minimum of eight (8) years’ work experience, of which two (2) years must have been served as Chief Technical Officer at D4 salary scale or equivalent.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To plan and coordinate the provision of maintenance services to government facilities (Buildings and Equipment).

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Conduct statutory inspections of existing installations and buildings of government facilities to ensure that they are habitable.
• Install and maintain building and equipment to habitable and safe usage.
• Advice clients on appropriate handling and usage of building / equipment.
• Supervise and monitor work performed by out sourced contractors/companies.
• Attend to faults reports and make follow ups.
• Prepare periodic maintenance report.
• Develop the work plan for the section.
• Distribute and monitor work among junior officers to ensure that all maintenance assignments nave been undertaken.
• Monitor operations of the workshop to ensure cleanness and safety precautions are adhered to.
• Conduct periodic inspections to monitor work performed by supervisees in government buildings.
• Conduct sectional meetings to monitor and address issues of performance.
• Enforce the adherence of set policies (i.e. General Order, RIE, Maintenance standards) to the maintenance staff.
• Conduct awareness forums on discipline and ant-corruption.
• Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by
Management for the exigency of the Civil Service.
