MINING ENGINEER – PROJECTS
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Contracts, Mining and Technical Services teams in assessing claims, data gathering, analysis, communication of trends and to suggest improvements. You will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for development and implementation of work process improvements; and for providing project management assistance to the Contracts, Mining and Technical Services teams.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: You will be responsible for:
- Assessing monthly claims, cost claims and extension of time requests.
- Assessing Systems of work, determining efficiency improvements, developing and implementing improvements to work processes.
- Attending all contractual meetings (internal as well as with the clients).
- Assisting in preparation of minutes of meetings from contractual meetings.
- Monitoring contractor performance to identify compliance to productivity requirements.
- Assisting in preparation and implementation of Project Execution Plans (PEP) and conducting delay consolidation.
- Planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing of technical activities to ensure operational accuracy and quality.
- Performing supplier and product research according to business objectives to ensure value add.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years field and mining or project management experience.
- An expert level understanding and use of MS Office tools.
- The ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proven contractor management skills.
