Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) is a mining company established in 1973 to mine and unlock true value of coal for all stakeholders. The MCM business is at the heart of a for Botswana with coal production contributing significantly to the economic development of Botswana. The Mine is owned by the Minerals Development CompanyBotswana (MDCB) a mining investment entity of the Government of Botswana. Morupule Coal Mine is located 7 km northwest of the urbanized village of Palapye (the fastest growing center outside the capital city of Gaborone), along the Serowe-Palapye national highway (A14). The company’s vision is ‘To be a partner of choice in the global coal transition’. The Company Seeks to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions:
1. DIVISIONAL ENGINEER – PRODUCTION
Job Summary:
To develop, coordinate and oversee the engineering and asset management systems and processes in the designated divisions by providing an integrated service.
Key Activities:
Implements the Engineering quality assurance programme in accordance withset governance protocols/principles/standards. Analyses the mini business unit area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensuressufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters.
Translates the engineering strategy into medium/long term strategic leverage areas or interventions for development of maintenance systems to support the section or divisions inmeeting the objectives and targets.
Develops the business units’ medium/long term forecast, maintenance and repair/overhaul plans integrating overall mine and other departmental plans.
Coordinates the effective provision of integrated engineering services to business units/ divisions by evaluating requirements and formulating a medium/long termschedule tomeet objectives.
Oversees the implementation of the Asset Management strategy, standards, policies andpractices by reviewing the maturity level of the departmental asset management improvement programme and coordinating the development of the departmental maintenance strategy.
Manages equipment data relating to maintenance history, audits and specificationsthroughout equipment life cycle.
Initiates and reviews maintenance contracts within the business unit.
Ensures compliance to performance standards, statutory and legal requirements for equipment, taking cognisance of health, safety, environmental and technical by:
> Performing life cycle costing and equipment criticality classification exercises toassess best practice for maintenance approaches, replacement, inventory control, service, repair and reconditioning as well as the decommissioning and disposal standards.
> Integrating new equipment into existing infrastructures.
> Analysing equipment performance to identify maintenance related problems and devising remedial solutions.
> Ensuring that upgrades and enhancements of equipment/machinery are performed to ensure optimal effectiveness.
> Overseeing the programming, configuration/ calibration, commissioning and optimisation exercises as appropriate.
> Performing over-inspections, fault finding and diagnosis on equipment and making remedial plans or recommendations as appropriate.
Coordinates and controls divisional /business units projects as/when required, taking cognisance of accepted project methodologies and operational readiness, inter alia;
> examining the appropriateness of proposed solutions; identifying projects for medium/long term solutions or modifications;
> coordinating, monitoring, and advising on matters relating to capital plans and expenditure; controlling projects from execution to close-out in liaison with the Project Management Office.
> Planning, execution, and performance monitoring of capital projects within the division
Identifies and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements
Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health, and environmental programme in area of responsibility.
Manages key effectiveness areas of subordinates by setting, monitoring, and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary.
> Capacity building including coaching of learner engineers.
Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
> Implementation and maintenance of the MCM Business system within the division.
Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
Manages the implementation of the talent management initiatives in area of responsibility by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, succession, training, and development plans.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Degree in an Engineering discipline – Mechanical, Electrical or Control & Instrumentation.
8 years post qualification Eng. Experience in heavy engineering including EIT programmewith 3 years at substantive mining industry Engineer level with experience in ISO55000series of standards knowledge and implementation.
Registration with Botswana Engineers’ Registration Board.
Knowledge of ISO 55001 Asset Management System.
Management Development Programme, Certified Safety Professional, Sustainability andwill be an added advantage.
Knowledge of SHE Management System ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001: 2015.
