Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Risk & Compliance Manager, the incumbent will support the implementation of the Risk and Compliance frameworks and policies. The incumbent will assist the bank as second line of defence against the Top Risks affecting the bank; ensuring that there is proper identification, management and proper mitigation of risks across all functions. Support the bank to ensure that the Bank meets its statutory, regulatory and compliance requirements. The incumbent will ensure implementation of the Business Continuity framework within the bank and also actively support compliance to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System across the business functions. Reporting all compliance issues to the manager, S/he will maintain compliance management processes to ensure the business complies with regulatory requirements as provided for in the legislation and mitigates potential exposure to risk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support management in identifying and compiling risk management plans, provide monitoring levels of compliance and ensure that compliance review procedures are conducted, and appropriate follow-up actions are taken.Coordinate all bank Business Continuity Management activities.

RISK MANAGEMENT ADMINISTRATION
• Ensure that departments adhere to set risk standards including monitoring of departmental risk registers.
• Work as a team to drive and support the identification and management of risks on a daily basis and a source of reference within the Business Unit.
• Ensure facilitation and promoting the understanding of Enterprise Risk Management and compliance requirements and issues.
• Design and implement control measures and monitoring plans for compliance and operational risk management.
• Ensure that controls are effective for compliance monitoring and risk management.
• Ensure adherence to the Enterprise Risk Management framework in identifying,controlling, monitoring and reporting of risk.
• Ensure sufficient actions are undertaken to mitigate, reduce or contain the identified risks.
• Undertake and/or coordinate periodic business monitoring (self-assessment) activities,escalating issues to the Risk and Compliance Manager.
• Ensure sufficient actions are undertaken by Business Units to comply with all key regulations, compliance and internal standards.
• Ensure the risks associated with new and changed products, services and business strategy are sufficiently assessed and mitigated.
• Lead and coordinate effort to enhance the general risk management and compliance culture within the business. This includes communication and other initiatives to change mind-set and behaviour of staff.
• Identify gaps and conduct staff training on risk management and compliance for all staff.

POLICY MANAGEMENT
• Ensure that policies are implemented effectively within the business, new regulations are properly communicated, and provide quality assurance on the design of the control measures and monitoring plans.
• Coordinate, analyse and consolidate risk and loss reporting to the department.
• Ensure all essential policy and regulatory requirements are communicated and disseminated to the relevant parties on a timely basis.
• Support Process development and implement across the business.
• Actively support compliance to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System across the business functions.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Degree in Business Management or Equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years in a Risk & Compliance environment.
• Well versed on Enterprise risk management.
• Knowledge in Business Continuity Management (will be an added advantage).
• Process review skills.
