Main purpose of the position

To install, maintain and repair power system metering equipment efficiently and effectively in accordance with BPC standards, policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of standard tests that require moderate judgment.
  • Carries out acceptance testing of energy meters and recommends to supervisor.
  • Selects appropriate data from information provided by others and inputs that data into spreadsheets or standard formats.
  • Compiles periodic and adhoc reports.
  • Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings.
  • Performs simple facilities tasks by following established procedures to support others.
  • Attends and provides technical advice on metering fraud investigations
  • Ensures sectional vehicles are clean.
  • Implements improvements and carries out simple change management tasks by following established procedures to support others.
  • Performs standard installation, maintenance and repair activities under detailed guidance, while also troubleshooting basic technical and/or operational problems by applying previously defined matching solutions.
  • Supports in maintenance, installation, repair and testing of metering and energy management schemes.
  • Checks consumer installation wiring to ensure that it complies with statutory and BPC regulations.
  • Operates various machines, adjusting work sequence and/or other variables to improve efficiency.
  • Maintains good condition and safe keeping of all tools and equipment.
  • Collects quotations and keeps track of purchase requisitions, dispatches orders to suppliers and receives materials and tools from the suppliers.
  • Performs relatively simple testing and quality assurance tasks.
  • Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.

Qualifications

  • BGCSE and National Craft Certificate-Electrical and Electronics or equivalent
  • Class B Driver’s License
  • Must obtain Senior Authorization within six (6) months for internal candidates or twelve (12) months for external candidates
