• METALLURGICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland, therefore, the candidates must have the enthusiasm and interest to work in a remote location and in a multicultural work environment. METALLURGICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (12 MONTHS CONTRACT)

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting Metallurgists in day-to-day lab operations involving; mineral processing, performing routine experimental procedures, quality control and assurance, operating and maintaining equipment, as well as conducting analysis and drafting feedback based on the key-learnings.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: You will be responsible for;

• Updating metallurgical databases.
• Recording data which has been identified specifically during preceding tests to verify that outputs of the test produce specific results or to review the reaction of the subiect under exceptional or unusual input.
• Providing input to reports and drafting of technical notes as required.
• Conducting, analysing experimental data and interpreting results (for example hot floats & particle size distributions) in line with plant design parameters.
• Assisting Metallurgy Team on the Metallurgical quality control and assurance process.
• Conducting field work including sampling for bias tests.
• Examining and performing various tests on prepared samples; avoiding any possibility of accidental or deliberate contamination during the testing phase.
• Liaising with external laboratories on third party analysis.
• Performing daily particle size distribution (PSDs) on selected streams
• Performing monthly-composite PSDs on selected streams.
• Assisting metallurgical team on plant audits.
• Assisting metallurgical team on root cause analysis for low plant performance.
• Conducting daily mill feed characterisation and performing weekly belt-cuts and calibration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

• Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Metallurgy with a minimum of 4 ears’ experience working in a mineral processing laboratory / metallurgical research centre.
• You must have attended training or have experience on Mineral processing, flotation, sampling, milling, thickening, crushing, and screening
• Computer literacy and competency in using standard Microsoft Office Software.
• Technical knowledge of or experience in the mineral processing industry will be an advantage.
