POSITION: COLLECTIONS OFFICER

REPORTS TO: Collections Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE

To achieve desired Non-Performing Loan targets and recovery of targets by contacting customers to secure payment arrangements and managing vendor relationships in line with SLA’s and agreed financial targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise clients over the phone to make payment schedules.
  • Attend to customers who come into the office to make payment arrangements.
  • Set targets and achieve them and be motivated to be the best collector.
  • Attend to walk in clients in resolution of queries.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a team player with supervisors as well as the collection’s team.
  • Ensure NPL Collections and recovery quarterly & targets for the Retail banking portfolio are consistently achieved.
  • Adhere to the whole collection process all the time.
  • Be part of building professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying sound abilities to listen, advise, influence, and negotiate favorable working grounds for both teams at all levels.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution where required.
  • Monitor deceased register and to the stage of recovery.
  • Identify accounts in line with strategy to be allocated to debt collection agencies and litigation and inform Collections Manager.
  • Compute monthly report updating progress of external collectors.
  • Reconciliation of collections accounts to be up to date all the time.
  • Ensure the achievement of department KPIs.
  • Action against deteriorating limits.
  • Plan and manage own workflow, anticipating obstacles, juggling priorities and following through on objectives within agreed time-frames and according to quality standards

 

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Business Administration/Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Banking or Related environment.
  • Sound technical knowledge of collections and reporting standards
